One-click Tally XML export for your CA

Hand your CA Tally-ready books in one tap — a single import XML of masters and vouchers they load straight into Tally Prime, instead of a backup over AnyDesk. The no-migration way to run Finocket alongside Tally.

Your CA files from Tally. Finocket hands them Tally-ready books in one tap — the exact files TallyPrime imports, named in import order, that they load straight into Tally Prime. No re-keying, no manual ledger creation, no backup shared over AnyDesk.

What the export contains

The download holds three files, numbered in the order your CA uses them:

  • 0-READ-ME-FIRST.txt — a plain-English pre-import checklist: take a backup, which company features to enable (built from what your export actually contains), the import sequence, and where Tally logs failures.
  • 1-tally-masters.xml — your ledgers and parties (bill-wise, with GSTIN, state and registration type), so the accounts a voucher posts to already exist when your CA imports.
  • 2-tally-vouchers.xml — your invoices, payments and expenses for the period, each posted as the matching Tally voucher type, invoices before the receipts that settle them.

Because the masters import first, the vouchers never stop on unknown ledgers. A receipt that settles an invoice from before the period is posted on-account rather than against a bill Tally doesn't have — the export tells you how many.

Export from Finocket

  1. Open Reports → Hand to your CA.
  2. Pick the date range — usually a month or a quarter (period presets included).
  3. Tap Download Tally XML. Finocket builds the checklist, masters and vouchers files for that range.
  4. Share it with your CA over WhatsApp, email or your drive of choice — or send the full Hand-to-CA ZIP, which includes the Tally XML alongside invoice PDFs, statements, Day Book and GST returns.

How the import works in Tally

After a backup, your CA presses Alt+O (Import) in Tally Prime and imports Masters → 1-tally-masters.xml first, then Transactions → 2-tally-vouchers.xml — each exactly once (re-importing duplicates vouchers under automatic numbering). Tally creates the ledgers from the masters, then loads the vouchers. Your books appear as if they'd been entered in Tally — Day Book, ledgers, trial balance, bill-wise outstanding, all queryable the way your CA is used to.

Running Finocket alongside Tally

Yes — that's the no-migration switch: record new work in Finocket from today, keep Tally for final accounts, and hand over the monthly XML. Nothing to import historically, and your CA keeps working exactly the way they already do. See Run Finocket alongside Tally for the step-by-step first month.

Access & control

Owners and assistants download the export; an invited accountant can download it themselves read-only — many CAs pull the month's XML directly rather than waiting for it on WhatsApp.

Frequently asked questions

How do I export data to Tally from Finocket?

Reports → Hand to your CA → pick the period → Download Tally XML. One file carries your ledgers, parties and every voucher for the range, ready for Tally Prime's Import Data.

How does Tally XML import actually work?

Tally reads the XML in two passes: masters first (creating any ledgers and parties that don't exist), then vouchers (posting each transaction against those ledgers). Because Finocket bundles both, the import runs clean without pre-creating anything.

Will my CA need to create ledgers manually?

No — the masters half of the file creates them on import. That's the difference from CSV hand-offs, which stop on every unknown ledger.

Can I keep using Tally for final accounts?

Yes — record daily work in Finocket, export monthly, and your CA finalises in Tally. Both stay in sync through the XML with no migration project.
